TANGEDCO Testing laboratories has been establishedat Chennai, Tirunelveli and Udumalpet and functional from 2021 for Testing/Calibration of Energy meters and Instrument transformers as per CEA regulations.

TANGEDCO Testing Laboratory, Chennai is a permanent lab equipped with 0.01 Class accuracy reference meter with static source with voltage range of 30V to 480V and Current range of 1mA to 120A. 10 position test bench is available with which 10 nos. of static energy meters can be tested at a time.The lab is also equipped with testing of Current transformer ratio upto 600A /5A-1A and Potential transformer ratio upto 33KV.
NABL Accreditation has been obtained for energy meter testing/calibration scope during 2022. Testing/calibration of all types of static meters, smart meters, Reference standard meters etc for various consumers are being carried out on chargeable basis with high precision and standard. Reference meters upto 0.02 classesare also being calibrated at the lab.
Also TNERC has approved the TANGEDCO Testing lab, Chennai vide TNERC Proceeding No. 789 TNERC/TPT Lab/ 2023 dated 16-06-2023 as Third party testing agency for testing disputed meters as per sub regulation of 7(9) of Tamil Nadu Electricity Supply code. Challenge test are also being carried out for dispute meters as per regulations.

TANGEDCO Mobile Testing Lab, Tirunelveli
This is the first and only MOBILE NABL accredited Lab in Tamilnadu for testing/ Calibration of Energy meter. TANGEDCO Testing Laboratory, Tirunelveli is equipped with 0.015 Class accuracy reference meter with static source with voltage range of 30V to 480V and Current range of 1mA to 120A. 02 position test bench is available with which 02 nos. of static energy meters can be tested at a time. The testing /Calibration are being carried out in a controlled environment and are fully automated through software and the can achieve accurate and reliable results. Thelab is also equipped with testing of Current transformer ratio upto 600A /5A-1A and Potential transformer ratio upto 33KV.
